March 27, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm greetings to Bangladesh on its National Day, highlighting the country’s historic liberation from Pakistan in 1971. In a letter to Muhammad Yunus, PM Modi emphasized the significance of this day, which marks the foundation of the strong and enduring ties between India and Bangladesh.
PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, built on mutual sensitivity to each other’s interest and concerns. He praised the spirit of Bangladesh liberation War, which continues to guide the partnership between the two nations.
President Droupadi Murmu also joined in, extending greetings to her Bangladesh counterpart, Mohammed Sahabuddin. She reaffirmed India’s support for a democratic, stable and progressive Bangladesh, highlighting the multi-faceted nature of their cooperation.
