Asam: Massive vehicle theft racket busted in Guwahati, eight arrested

Guwahati: A massive vehicle theft racket operating from Guwahati, Assam was busted by the police on Sunday.



As per sources, the Dispur police have busted the racket, arresting eight individuals in connection with the theft of a truck belonging to a Mangaldoi-based businessman.



The truck, bearing the number AS13AC5614 belonged to Ajay Barman. It was stolen from Dispur, prompting Barman to file a case with the police.



Based on the complaint, an investigation was initated and the police traced the gang and arrested eight individuals.



The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Rashidul Alam, Noor Hussain, Moidul Islam, Ainul Haque, Nazrul Islam, Pankaj Yadav, Sanjeev Kumar, and Ranbir Arora. Sanjeev and Ranbir, both from Haryana, allegedly stole the truck with the help of thieves from Guwahati, Hajo, and Nalbari.



A recovery van was also used in the theft, and the stolen truck was eventually recovered from the 13-mile area in Byrnihat, Meghalaya. The police are investigating the case further to uncover the extent of the racket and identify any other individuals involved.
