Guwahati: A major rail accident occurred in Cuttack, Odisha, when at least 11 coaches of the SMVT Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Super Fast Express derailed at Nirgundi near Manguli Chowdwar railway station.

The train, numbered 12551, was en route from Bengaluru to Kamakhya in Guwahati, Assam when the incident occurred.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far, although panic-stricken passengers were seen disembarking from the train following the derailment. Railway officials have rushed to the accident site to assess the situation and provide assistance.

An investigation into the cause of the derailment is underway, and further details are awaited.
