Guwahati: The police have arrested a man from Kolkata, West Bengal on allegations of stealing Rs 10 lakh in Golaghat, Assam.
The accused, Krishna Shil, allegedly snatched Rs 10 lakh from a self-help group in Golaghat town on March 3.
The stolen amount was a loan from the State Bank of India's Pulibor branch, meant for the self help group, consisting of 10 women.
According to reports, Shil robbed the women on a bike in front of the post office.
Following the incident, a team of Golaghat Police launched an investigation and finally apprehended Shil from Hospitalpara in Kolkata on Monday.
Currently, the police are interrogating Shil, who has denied any involvement in the theft.
The police are conducting further investigations.
