March 21, 2025: Jorhat Police conducted a raid at the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) office following allegations of irregularities in job recruitment. The raid was carried out after the department failed to respond to multiple notices sent by the police.

According to reports, in 2021, three candidates secured jobs through unlawful means, violating the recruitment norms. The matter came to light when aggrieved candidates, who were deprived of their rightful opportunities, filed a formal complaint with Jorhat Police. Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case and initiated an investigation.

Despite sending three notices seeking clarification, the Directorate did not provide any response. The current director of the DTE, Dhruva Jyoti Bora, also failed to address the queries, leading the police to take action by raiding the office.

The alleged recruitment scam took place during the tenure of then-Director Mousumi Baruah in 2021. Baruah, who was heading the Directorate at the time, is currently working at Assam Engineering College.

The police are expected to intensify their investigation, and further developments are awaited in this case.
