Manas Forest Department Nabs Two Poachers with Tiger Teeth in Boro Bazar

March 18, 2025: In a major crackdown on wildlife crime, the Manas Forest Department arrested two poachers in Baksa’s Boro Bazar for attempting to sell tiger teeth illegally. The operation, conducted near Manas National Park, led to the seizure of four tiger teeth, a scooter, and two mobile phones.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Firoz Narzary (40) from Kumguri and Minister Basumatary (26) from Bongaon. According to officials, they were caught red-handed while trying to sell the tiger teeth at a tea shop in Boro Bazar. Acting on intelligence inputs, forest officials swiftly carried out the operation, preventing the illegal trade.

Authorities suspect the duo’s involvement in a larger wildlife trafficking network. Further investigation is underway to track down other individuals linked to the poaching activities. Currently, the two accused are in the custody of the Manas Forest Department, and legal proceedings are being initiated against them.

The Manas Forest Department has intensified its efforts to combat poaching and illegal wildlife trade in the region, urging the public to report any suspicious activities related to wildlife crime.
