Guwahati: A scooter rider was killed after being run over by a truck near National Highway 27 in Guwahati, Assam on Friday evening.

The fatal road accident took place in the Katahbari area on National Highway 27 in Guwahati.

As per reports, the accident occurred after a truck bearing registration number AS28AC0257 ran over a scooter (AS01EA3912) from behind.

The truck was reportedly loaded with cement bags but the exact circumstances leading to the accident were not immediately known.

The person driving the scooter died on the spot before any medical assistance could arrive while another person was severely injured.

The injured person was taken to a hospital in a critical condition.

Police have begun a probe into the incident.

Identity of neither the driver and pillion were revealed till the filing of this report.
