March 19, 2025: A tragic incident unfolded at Manas National Park as a forest worker, who was severely injured in a wild buffalo attack, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The deceased, identified as forest constable Jeherul Islam from Kalgachia in Barpeta district, was stationed at the Bahbari forest range of Manas. He was receiving treatment at Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, where he passed away today.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Monday in the Daoraibari area of Baksa when a wild buffalo strayed out of the dense forest and created panic in the region. While forest officials attempted to drive the animal back into its natural habitat, it suddenly turned aggressive and attacked Jeherul Islam, leaving him critically injured.
Despite all efforts by the medical team, Jeherul could not survive his injuries. His untimely demise has cast a shadow of grief over Manas National Park, where colleagues and officials mourn his loss.
The incident highlights the persistent dangers faced by forest workers who risk their lives to protect wildlife and maintain ecological balance.
