March 28, 2025: A fierce gun battle broke out in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Thursday, resulting in the loss of three police personnel. Two terrorists were also killed, while three to four terrorists were still hiding in the area.

Five security personnel, including a deputy superintendent of police, were injured and are receiving medical treatment.

The encounter began when police entered the forest and engaged in close combat with heavily armed terrorists. Despite suffering casualties, the police managed to neutralize two terrorists.

Nalin Prabhat, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, is leading the operation. He confirmed the killing of two terrorists and expressed confidence that the remaining terrorists will be neutralized.

The operation involved a massive search effort by teams from the Army, National Security Guard, Border Security Force, Police, Special Operations Group and Central Reserve Police Force.

The terrorists are believed to have infiltrated into India on Saturday, armed with state-of-the-art weapons. The police had recovered grenades and other materials earlier in the week.

The operation is ongoing, with the police working to retrieve the bodies of the fallen personnel and neutralize the remaining terrorists.
