March 20, 2025: In a remarkable achievement, Vavani Vee Sarmah, originally belonging to Sipajhar, Darrang, Assam, has made his home state proud by contributing significantly SpaceX’s mission to bring Sunita Williams back to Earth.

As a senior software engineer at SpaceX, Sarmah played a crucial role in overseeing the technical aspects of the mission. His expertise and dedication were instrumental in ensuring the safe return of Sunita Williams.

Sarmah’s journey to success began with his education at Assam Engineering Institute and Dibrugarh University. He later moved to the United States in 2005 to pursue higher education at the University of Pennsylvania.

With a distinguished career spanning over 15 years, Sarmah has worked with top organizations in the US, including Microsoft Corporation, where he started as a technical program manager in 2006. Before joining SpaceX, in January this year, he held key positions in various US based companies.

Sarmah’s achievement is a testament to his hard work, dedication and passion for excellence. His contribution to the SpaceX mission has brought pride not only to his family and friends but also to the entire state of Assam.
