March 26, 2025: In a thrilling finale at Sepak Takraw World Cup 2025, the Indian men’s team clinched the gold medal, defeating Japan 2-1 in the regular category at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna. This victory marked the culmination of a six-day mega sports event, which saw India’s men’s and women’s teams deliver impressive performances.
The women’s team secured a bronze medal after losing to Vietnam in the semi-finals. Thailand’s women’s team took home the Gold, while Vietnam claimed the Silver medal in the final match.
The Indian men’s team had a remarkable journey to the finals, defeating strong contenders Iran in the second semi-final.
Iran and Singapore jointly received the bronze medal in the men’s regular category. Notably, Indian teams secured a total of seven medals.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Sports Minister Surendra Mehta presented medals and trophies to the winners and runners up teams. PM Narendra Modi also lauded the Indian team for their stunning performance.
Bihar made its debut as host of the ISTAF Sepak Takraw World Cup, marking a significant milestone in the state’s sporting history.
