March 28, 2025: A gruesome crime has come to light in Bengaluru, where a man allegedly murdered his wife, stuffed her body into a suitcase, and fled to Pune. The accused, Rakesh, a project manager at Hitachi, was arrested by Pune police after being tracked down using call detail records.

According to Police, Rakesh confessed to the crime over a phone call to his wife’s parents. The victim, 32 year old Gauri Anil Sambekar, was unemployed. The couple, originally from Maharashtra, had been living in Bengaluru for two months.

Police investigation revealed that the couple frequently argued, with reports of physical assault by Gauri during fights. On March 26, a heated argument escalated, leading Rakesh to stab Gauri in the stomach and slit her throat open. He then packed her body in a suitcase, kept it inside the bathroom, and fled to Pune.

The crime was discovered when police received a call reporting a suspected hanging case. Upon entering the house, they found the suitcase in the bathroom containing Gauri’s body with injury marks.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Sarah Fatima said, “We tracked Rakesh’s location through CDR and alerted Pune police, who arrested him.”

The police are investigating the case to uncover further details.
