Guwahati: Police in Hojai, Assam opened fire on a group of cattle thieves in Nilbagan area, arresting two suspects and recovering stolen cows.



The incident occurred when four cows were stolen from an area under the Udali police station after the thieves broke through the barricades.



A police vehicle chased the thieves, leading to a confrontation at Mobarak Basti in Nilbagan.



The police opened fire at the fleeing vehicle, and two thieves were apprehended in the field, while the other two escaped and are currently on the run.



The arrested suspects, Haider Ali and Harun Rashid, are reportedly from Amoni in Nagaon.



The thieves had used a vehicle with the number plate AS-03-M-9597. Police are currently searching for the two absconding thieves.



No official statement has been released by the police regarding the incident till the filing of this report.
