Guwahati: One person was killed while five others were severely injured after a devastating road accident in Sonitpur, Assam.

The incident occurred in Barpat village of Balipara in Sonitpur, resulting in the loss of one life and leaving five others seriously injured. The accident involved a Tata Sumo (AS01KC9178) that was traveling from Arunachal towards Tezpur at an alleged high speed, lost control and collided with a roadside tree.

A woman from Arunachal was pronounced dead at the scene, while the injured, including the driver, were rushed to Tezpur in an ambulance for medical attention.

Locals and police worked together to free a woman who was trapped inside the vehicle for an extended period.

The identities of the injured individuals are currently unknown and are being ascertained by the police.
