Itanagar: A portion of the state highway between Itanagar and Gyekar Sinyi (Ganga Lake) in Arunachal Pradesh has caved in near Zoo Road Tinali, leaving the road closed to traffic.

The cave-in occurred when a PHED water supply pipeline burst due to ongoing retaining wall construction work.

The closure has stranded tourists who wish to visit Gyekar Sinyi, while residents of Sangdupota Circle are being forced to take alternative routes. The damage to the pipeline has also disrupted water supply from Poma.

According to ICR Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom, restoration work is expected to be completed within the next 10 days.

However, locals have expressed concerns over the pace of work, which they claim has slowed down significantly since the initial two days. With the onset of rain imminent, residents are urging authorities to expedite the completion of repairs.
