AAP Alleges MLAs Blocked from Delhi Assembly, Calls it ‘Dictatorship’

February 27, 2025: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused authorities of blocking its MLAs from entering the Delhi Assembly ahead of Thursday's session, claiming that barricades were placed at the entry road to prevent them from reaching the complex.

Atishi, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, took to social media platform X to allege that after suspending 21 AAP MLAs, the government is now stopping them from entering the premises. The MLAs were suspended on February 25 following a ruckus over the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report.

Expressing her outrage, Atishi wrote, "The BJP people crossed the limits of dictatorship after coming to power. Aam Aadmi Party MLAs were suspended from the House for three days for raising slogans of 'Jai Bhim'. And today, AAP MLAs are not even being allowed to enter the Vidhan Sabha premises. This has never happened in the history of the Delhi Legislative Assembly."

However, Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma defended the move, stating that AAP MLAs had violated assembly rules. "They cannot raise slogans when the LG is addressing the House. If they break the laws like this, it is not good," he said.

The suspension of 21 AAP MLAs, including former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, came amid an uproar over the CAG report on the controversial liquor policy. The issue has led to the arrest of several top AAP leaders, including party chief Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
