Guwahati: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma during the campaigning for the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council Elections said that people in Assam should do more pig farming in order to keep some "people" away.
Speaking at an election meeting, the CM said that soon he would be launching new schemes with one scheduled for launch in Behali constituency soon.
He said that this scheme is focused on distributing Rs 10 thousand to women in self-help/cooperative societies.
He said that the money would be distributed with cheques to each group and would be meant for new business opportunities. "If the women use this money for good, we may be able to give them Rs 25 thousand next year. They should focus on handloom, poultry and pig farming", he said.
The CM added that the focus should be more on pig farming claiming this this will keep some people away and land won't be encroached. The CM hinted at the said statement to a particular community.
He added, "I want all the villages to engage in pig farming to keep some people away."
