March 24, 2025: In a heart-wrenching incident, two teenage boys drowned while bathing in Kasura Lake at Bortola village under Mukalmua in Nalbari district. The tragic event has cast a pall of gloom over the entire district.

The deceased have been identified as Partha Pratim Barman and Ankur Barman. Partha Pratim was the son of Pranjal Barman and a Class 8 student, while Ankur Barman was the son of Bubul Barman and had recently appeared for the HSLC examination. Both were residents of Bortola village.

The incident took place this afternoon when the two teenagers went to the lake to bathe. Unfortunately, they ventured into deep water and drowned.

Locals, upon receiving information, immediately rushed to the spot and pulled the boys out of the water. They were taken to Mukalmua Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

The sudden and untimely demise of the two students has left the entire district in mourning. The tragic loss has once again raised concerns about the safety of children near water bodies. Local residents and authorities have urged for increased awareness to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future.
