Russian Consulate in Marseille Attacked with Molotov Cocktails, No Casualties Reported

February 24, 2025: An explosion was reportedly heard near the Russian consulate in the southern French city of Marseille, prompting an emergency response, according to a report by Reuters citing local media. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

According to Belarusian media house NEXTA, unidentified individuals threw two Molotov cocktails into the garden area within the consulate premises. A stolen car was also found near the attack site, as per preliminary reports.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident, a statement confirmed by the French interior ministry. However, Russian authorities have strongly condemned the attack, calling it a potential act of terrorism.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, stated that the explosions bore "all the hallmarks of a terrorist attack" and urged French authorities to conduct a thorough investigation. She also called for strengthened security measures for Russian diplomatic missions.

French police have not yet confirmed reports of an explosion, but investigations into the incident are ongoing.
