August 23, 2024: Amid of nationwide protest against trainee doctor’s rape and murder case in Kolkata, a minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men in Dhing, Nagaon district of Assam on Thursday night.

As per reports, the incident took place when the minor was returning home from her tuition in the evening. She was lying on the road for around an hour and later rescued by the locals.

The local who rescued her said that, minor told him that she was raped by three men on her way home and left her there half naked.

After being rescued, she was rushed to Dhing FRU for treatment. Police have detained Jonaidul Islam and Tofajul Islam from Dhing’s Borbheti in connection with the incident.

After this horrific incident, a bandh has been called in the district by student unions. AASU workers and public came out for protest and demanding immediate punishment of both the accused.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma condemned this horrific incident and directed DGP of Assam to take action against such monsters. He wrote on his X handle, “The horrific incident at Dhing, involving a minor, is a crime against humanity and has struck our collective conscience.

We will NOT SPARE anyone & BRING the perpetrators to JUSTICE. I’ve directed @DGPAssamPolice to visit the site and ensure swift action against such monsters.”
