SIT Files Final Chargesheet in APSC Scam, Names 23 Officers

September 12, 2024: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has completed its investigation into the high-profile APSC scam and filed a final chargesheet detailing the findings. The 156-page document, submitted by investigating officer Upen Kalita, names 23 registered officers allegedly involved in the scam. This final chargesheet follows a previous attempt by IPS officer Pratik Thuwe, which was returned by the court due to significant flaws.

The court's review of Thuwe’s chargesheet revealed numerous discrepancies, including the omission of several accused individuals. As a result, Thuwe was removed from his role as the investigating officer, and the SIT was tasked with reassessing the case.

The chargesheet, presented by Kalita, has drawn attention for its notable omissions. Nine of the accused officers listed in the initial investigation were not included in the final document. According to the SIT, the exclusion was due to insufficient resources available to build a case against these individuals.

The SIT's latest chargesheet aims to provide clarity and accountability, although the missing names have raised questions about the completeness of the investigation.
