Maharana Pratap’s descendant passes away in Udaipur

March 16,2025: Arvind Singh Mewar, a scion of the erstwhile royal family of Mewar, and chairman of the HRH group of hotels, passed away on Sunday, 16 March 2025, in Udaipur after a prolonged illness. He was 81.



A descendant of the legendary Rajput King Maharana Pratap, Mewar was a prominent figure in Udaipur’s royal family. He is survived by his wife, Vijayraj Kumari, son Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, and daughters Bhargavi Kumari Mewar and Padmaja kumara Parmar.



Mewar’s funeral will take place on Monday, and as a mark of respect, the Udaipur City Palace will remain closed to tourists on Sunday and Monday.



Mewar was an avid cricketer, making his debut in the Ranji Trophy as Rajasthan’s skipper in 1945-46. He was also a skilled polo player. Additionally, Mewar was an accomplished pilot, having completed solo flights across India in a microlight aircraft.
