Guwahati: An alleged kidnapping of a woman said to be the granddaughter of an influential BJP MLA has taken place in Morigaon, Assam.
The woman missing has been claimed to be the granddaughter of Morigaon constituency MLA Ramakant Dewri.
She was allegedly abducted by a gang.
According to the FIR lodged by the family, the police have registered a case (No. 78/25) under relevant sections at Morigaon Sadar Police Station.
In connection with the case, the police have arrested four individuals, including a 17-year-old girl, and sent them to court.
The juvenile court granted bail to the 17-year-old girl, while the remaining three accused were remanded to police custody.
The police have identified Bhavajit Medhi, Abhinash Thakuria and Fizulat Rahman as the accused.
However, the prime accused in the case has been identified as Arman Rahman, son of Fizulat Rahman. He is currently said to be absconding.
Further investigation in the case has been initiated.
