March 23, 2025: The cricket world was abuzz with speculation about MS Dhoni’s retirement after he wore a T-Shirt with the Morse code message “One Last Time” during his arrival in Chennai last month. However, the 43 year old Indian legend has now poured cold water on those rumours.

In an exclusive interview with Jio Hotstar ahead of Chennai Super Kings’ season opener against Mumbai Indians, Dhoni revealed that neither he nor the franchise is ready to bid farewell just yet. When asked about his future with CSK, he said, “I can play for as long as I want for CSK. That’s my franchise. Even if I’m on a wheelchair, they will drag me.”

Dhoni’s loyalty to CSK is well known, and his comments suggest that he is eager to continue playing for the team. Despite battling a knee injury during the 2023 IPL session, which required surgery, Dhoni made a successful return to the game. In the 17th edition of the IPL, he not only relinquished his captaincy role but also adjusted his batting position, preferring to bat at number 8 or below.

Dhoni’s performance in the previous season was impressive, with 161 runs in 73 balls at a strike rate of 220.

As CSK prepares to take on Mumbai Indians in their season opener, Dhoni’s comments have sent a clear message: He is not ready to hang up his boots just yet.
