Guwahati: Shillong MP Ricky A J Syngkon raised concerns about Meghalaya's North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Vice Chancellor, Prof PS Shukla, in Parliament on Tuesday.
Syngkon demanded Shukla's immediate removal due to allegations of inefficiency and corruption.
The MP stated that Shukla has lost the confidence of students, teachers, and non-teaching staff, causing disarray in the university.
The institution, known for its higher studies and research, has come to a standstill, he claimed.
The demand for the VC's removal comes amid ongoing tensions, with students and staff members vowing not to allow him to enter the university.
Syngkon further urged the concerned ministry to take the issue seriously, prioritizing the interests of students, teachers, and staff.
