March 16, 2025: The BJP has launched a scathing attack on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of making frequent, undisclosed trip to Vietnam and other countries. The party claims that such secrecy is unbecoming of the Leader of the Opposition and raises concern about national security.
Ravi Shankar Prasad, addressing a press briefing, questioned Gandhi’s fondness for Vietnam, pointing out that he spent 22 days there, which is more than he has spent in his own constituency Rae Bareli. Prasad’s concerns were echoed by Amit Malviya, who claimed that Gandhi’s frequent trips abroad pose serious national security concerns.
The controversy surrounding Gandhi’s trips to Vietnam has been ongoing. His recent visit, which coincided with the Budget session in Parliament, drew criticism from BJP. They accused him of leaving for New Year’s celebrations in Vietnam during the seven-day mourning period for former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
In response to the criticism, the Congress party defended Gandhi’s visits, stating that he was studying Vietnam’s economic model.
As the debate continues, the issue is likely to remain a point of contention between the two parties.
