Guwahati: A man allegedly attacked his wife and daughter with acid in Assam's Bongaigaon district on International Women's Day. The victims are currently battling for their lives at a local hospital.

The accused, identified as Jahidul Islam, is on the run, and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend him.

According to reports, the attack was sparked by a domestic dispute, although the exact cause remains unclear.

Locals following the incident have begun demanding swift and severe action against the perpetrator.

"This shameful act on Women's Day is unacceptable," said a local.

He added, "We urge the authorities to ensure immediate justice for the victims."

The police initiating an investigation have assured that they are taking all necessary steps to apprehend the accused and bring him to justice.
