Guwahati: A gas leak incident occurred on Sunday at an oil rig of Oil India Limited, located in the Makum area of Assam's Tinsukia district.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, but the incident has sparked panic among the local residents.
The leak has raised concerns among the villagers, who have expressed outrage over the alleged negligence of Oil India Limited.
They claim that the incident could have been prevented if the company had taken necessary precautions.
A section of the villagers had a narrow escape from the accident. Divisional authorities of Oil India Limited reached the spot after a considerable delay, but were eventually able to prevent any potential disasters after strenuous efforts.
People said that such incidents bring out possibilities of a Baghjan like situation which last for several days.
