Guwahati: A 28-year-old migrant worker from Assam was arrested in Kerala after nearly two years of being on the run in case of theft in Meghalaya.
The accused Ranjan Boro Gain was arrested in Perumbavoor, Kerala, after evading capture for two years.
He was wanted in connection with a theft case registered at Nongpoh police station in Meghalaya's Ri Bhoi district in 2020.
Gain had managed to escape from police custody after his initial arrest and had been on the run since then.
A special investigation team tracked him down to a plywood company in Perumbavoor, following a tip-off received by District Police Chief Vaibhav Saxena.
The Ernakulam rural police handed over Gain to the Meghalaya Police, bringing an end to a two-year-long manhunt.
