March 16, 2025: Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent visit to the North East was marked by a heart warming gesture, as he gifted a guitar to 7 year old Mizoram prodigy Esther Lalduhawmi Hnamte, this thoughtful act followed Esther’s mesmerizing rendition of Vande Mataram in Aizwal, which left Shah deeply moved.
Esther, a singing sensation from Mizoram, first gained nationwide recognition in 2020 with her powerful performance of “Maa tujhe salaam”, which went viral. Her soulful voice and patriotic spirit earned her widespread admiration, as well as multiple awards from the Mizoram govt, including a special appreciation from the governor.
Shah’s visit to Mizoram was part of his three-day trip to Assam, which began on March 14. During his time in Mizoram, he attended a land transfer ceremony, where the Assam Rifles handed over a significant portion of its land to the state govt. Shah praised the Assam Rifles for their dedication to serving the people of Mizoram, highlighting their commitment to security through fraternity.
Shah further highlighted the Modi govt’s efforts to transform the Northeast over the past decade. Through initiatives in tourism, technology, agriculture, and entrepreneurship, the government has fostered growth and unity in the region. As shah said, “Love for Bharat unites us all.”
