Second Phase of Gunotsav Kicks Off with Focus on Student Uniforms and Teacher Transfers

January 17, 2025: The second phase of this year’s Gunotsav began today, marking an important milestone in the annual educational evaluation initiative. This phase is expected to cover approximately 1.5 million students across the region, continuing the effort to enhance the quality of education.

One of the notable focuses of this year's Gunotsav is the assessment of student uniforms. In addition to the academic progress of students, their uniforms will be carefully evaluated as part of the overall evaluation framework.

In an important policy update, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced that no schools established after January 2006 will be provincialized. However, a committee has been formed to examine the possibility of provincializing some schools that were established before 2006, addressing longstanding concerns over school status and administrative challenges.

The government also announced that the transfer of teachers in the second phase will be completed before the summer holidays. This follows the successful transfer of 36,000 teachers who had applied through the portal in the first phase. A new portal, set to launch in the coming days, will streamline the process for the transfer of teachers and ensure a more efficient system moving forward.

With these developments, the Gunotsav is set to not only assess educational standards but also take significant steps toward improving the administrative aspects of the education system in the state.
