Historic Army Day Parade to Feature All-Girl NCC Contingent, Robotic Mules, and Revolutionary Thematic Tableaux

January 13, 2025: The upcoming Army Day Parade will feature a groundbreaking participation with the first-ever all-girl National Cadet Corps (NCC) contingent taking part in the prestigious event, marking a significant step toward inclusivity and gender representation in the Indian Armed Forces. The parade, set to take place on January 15 at the Bombay Engineering Group (BEG) and Centre in Pune, Maharashtra, will also showcase several other milestones and technological innovations in the Indian Army.

This year's parade will highlight the theme "Samarth Bharat, Saksham Sena" (Empowered India, Capable Army), focusing on demonstrating the Indian Army's modern capabilities and contributions to a stronger nation. Alongside the all-girl NCC contingent, an all-women Agniveer contingent from the Corps of Military Police (CMP) Centre in Bengaluru will make its debut, further strengthening the role of women in India's military forces.

Additionally, for the first time, a set of "robotic mules" will participate in the parade. These innovative, nimble-footed machines, designed to carry heavy loads and navigate difficult terrain, were introduced into the Army last year. They will march alongside their handlers, saluting dignitaries as they pass the dais.

The parade will also feature four thematic tableaux, including one highlighting the Army's Mission Olympics Wing, which has played a key role in training athletes across various sports disciplines. This tableau will showcase athletes in sports like fencing and wrestling, along with Paralympic champions who have brought laurels to the country.

The other tableaux will focus on the contributions of Army veterans, the Indian Army's green initiatives, and technological advancements in the force. One tableau will depict the Army's efforts to adopt green measures in line with the goal of achieving net-zero emissions, while another will highlight cutting-edge technologies such as drones, nano-tech, and UAVs.

The evening will culminate in a special program, "Gaurav Gatha," which will trace the evolution of welfare from ancient times to the present, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to attend this event.

This year marks the 77th Army Day celebrations, and it reflects the Indian Army's commitment to modernization and inclusivity, while also honoring the invaluable contributions of its personnel, past and present.
