March 23, 2025: A heartbreaking incident occurred in Elamadu, Kollam, Kerala, where a 35 year old man, Ranjith, allegedly took his own life after attempting to kill his ailing mother, Sujatha, 58. The duo had been struggling with financial difficulties and the mother’s deteriorating health.

According to reports, on Friday, Ranjith and his mother consumed an excessive number of pills in a desperate bid to end their lives together. Believing his mother had passed away, Ranjith attempted to strangle her with a shawl. However, Sujatha survived the ordeal.

Thinking his mother was dead, Ranjith hanged himself. The next morning, officials from the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) arrived at their residence to collect an overdue electricity bill. They heard Sujatha’s cries for water and immediately alerted the locals, who then informed the police.

The lady was rushed to the hospital, where she is receiving treatment currently. The police reported that the mother-son duo didn’t have any other relatives.
