Guwahati: BJP MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi on Monday reacting to the demands of him being barred from the Assam Legislative Assembly said that no one can bar him.

Kurmi had sparked a controversy with his recent comments against several opposition MLAs.

On Saturday, Kurmi was at the centre of a heated debate followed by some comments which the opposition termed as objectionable.

Following the controversy Kurmi on Monday stated that he has apologized multiple times and is willing to do so a hundred times more.

Kurmi's comments came after opposition MLAs protested against his alleged misconduct in the Assembly, with some demanding his expulsion. However, Kurmi remains defiant, asserting that no one can bar him from entering the Assembly, citing his right as an elected representative.

"I don't care what others say or do," Kurmi said, adding that he has already apologized and sees no room for further discussion.

Kurmi said that he also discussed the issue with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who emphasized the importance of serving the people with a "cold mind."
