Guwahati: The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) has taken drastic measures after a suspected question paper leak led to the viral circulation of the Higher Secondary 1st Year Mathematics question paper. The mathematics examination, scheduled for March 21, was been officially cancelled and an FIR has been filed against 18 educational institutions across various districts in Assam.
Following this, further measures were taken by cancelling the remaning exams as well citing simial possibilities.
The districts implicated in the breach include Barpeta, Bajali, Cachar, Dhemaji, Hailakandi, Kamrup Metro, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Nagaon, and Nalbari. The Board has instructed inspectors of schools to lodge FIRs against these institutions, initiating legal proceedings.
In response to the breach, the ASSEB has suspended the affiliation/permission of these institutions with immediate effect. During the suspension period, these institutions are prohibited from admitting new students to Class XI for the academic session 2025-26. However, students already enrolled in Class XI and appearing for the HS 1st Year Examination 2025 will be allowed to continue their studies in these institutions.
