Guwahati: A man fired two shots at a house belonging to his in-laws while attempting to reunited with his wife in Teliamura of Khowai, Tripura.

As per reports, the man was identified as Abhijit Das.

Locals described him as a drug addict and the latest incident of firing sparked widespread tension in the area.

According to police reports, Abhijit Das, a resident of Dakshin Pulinpur village, arrived at his father-in-law's house with a pistol and opened fire. The villagers, alerted by the gunshots, rushed to the scene, prompting Abhijit Das to flee.

Locals alleged that Abhijit Das has a history of physically and mentally torturing his wife, forcing her to seek refuge at her father's house a few days ago. The police investigation revealed that the pistol used by Abhijit Das was sophisticated, and two rounds of cartridges were recovered from the scene.

The police have launched a search operation to apprehend Abhijit Das, who remains at large.
