March 22, 2025: The Border Security Force (BSF) foiled an infiltration bid along the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district on Friday, arresting five Bangladeshi nationals, officials confirmed.
Among those apprehended were three transgender individuals and a Bangladeshi couple. Acting on intelligence inputs, BSF personnel stationed at the North Bengal Frontier launched an operation to intercept the infiltrators.
During preliminary interrogation, the detainees revealed that they had been residing illegally in India, primarily in Delhi and Haryana, where they had been earning their livelihood for an extended period. The group was attempting to cross into Bangladesh when they were intercepted by the BSF.
After completing the necessary legal formalities, the detained individuals were handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), officials stated.
The BSF has been maintaining a tight vigil along the Indo-Bangladesh border to curb illegal infiltration and cross-border crimes, officials added.
