March 22, 2025: A fatal accident on Thursday night in Tarinipur, Katigora, claimed the life of Saddam Hussain, a biker who tragically crashed into an under-construction flyover on the Bharatmala road. The incident sparked widespread outrage, with hundreds of locals staging protests against Jantu Construction, the company responsible for the road project.
Accusing the company of negligence and inadequate safety measures at the construction site, protestors surrounded the Jantu Construction office, demanding immediate justice for the victim’s family. The demonstration continued well into the night, creating a tense atmosphere in the area.
Amid mounting public pressure, officials from Jantu Construction engaged in discussions with local authorities, including the Circle Officer of Katigora, the Officer-in-Charge of the local police station, and prominent community members. Following the talks, the company indirectly admitted responsibility for the accident and announced a financial compensation of ₹4.5 lakh for the deceased's family. Additionally, they promised a job for one family member in their company.
The company also assured locals that it would implement stricter safety protocols at the construction site to avoid similar tragedies in the future. Despite the assurances, the incident has raised serious questions about the safety standards maintained in ongoing infrastructure projects.
Although the situation has returned to normal, public sentiment continues to call for greater accountability and stringent safety measures from construction firms involved in large-scale development projects.
