March 19, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian contingent of the Special Olympics World Winter Games on their outstanding performance in Turin, Italy, where they won a total of 33 medals. Modi expressed his pride on X, stating,” I am immensely proud of our athletes who have brought glory to the nation..Our incredible contingent has brought home 33 medals”



Modi met the contingent at the Parliament on Monday and personally congratulated them on their achievements. India’s campaign concluded on a high note, with the team winning 12 medals on the final day. The athletes showcased their skills across multiple events, securing 10 medals each in snowshoeing and alpine skiing, followed by six medals in snowboarding.



Other notable performance included:



:: Short track speed skating: 4 medals



:: Cross- country skiing: 2 medals



:: Floorball: 1 medal
