Two Youths arrested for Misbehaving with On-Duty Police in Narengi

March 19, 2025: Two young men were arrested in Narengi after they misbehaved with an on-duty traffic police officer and created a ruckus during a vehicle inspection. The accused have been identified as Akash Choudhury and Saddam Ali, both residents of Amgaon, Bonda.

According to reports, the incident took place at Narengi Tiniali, where the Noonmati Traffic Police had set up a temporary checkpoint in front of the LG Tower to inspect vehicles. During the routine check, officers noticed that the number plates of a scooter, carrying two young men, were covered with plastic. When police signaled them to stop, they complied, but what followed was unexpected.

One of the riders, Akash Choudhury, began verbally abusing the on-duty constable using obscene language. He even questioned the constable if he recognized him and went on to claim that he was an associate of a cabinet minister from Nalbari. He further threatened to have the constable transferred immediately.

The situation escalated when Choudhury attempted to physically assault the constable. Sensing danger, the officer immediately reported the incident to the Noonmati police station.

A team of police personnel swiftly arrived at the scene and arrested both individuals. They were later presented before the court and sent to judicial custody.

It is also noteworthy that both the arrested youths were not wearing helmets at the time of the incident.
