March 19, 2025: In a gruesome crime that has shocked Meerut, a 29-year-old merchant navy officer, Saurabh Rajput, was brutally murdered by his wife and her lover. The accused allegedly stabbed him to death, chopped his body into pieces, and sealed the remains inside a drum filled with cement in an attempt to cover up the crime.

According to police, Rajput had returned home from the UK on February 24 to surprise his wife, Muskan, and celebrate their daughter’s birthday. However, he was unaware of the sinister plot against him. Investigations began after Rajput’s family reported him missing from his residence in Brahmpuri’s Indira Nagar Phase 2 on March 4. Based on suspicion, the police detained Muskan, 27, and her lover Sahil, 25. Upon interrogation, they confessed to the crime, revealing shocking details of how they planned and executed the murder.

Muskan had allegedly mixed sleeping pills in Rajput’s food, ensuring that he was unconscious. Once asleep, Sahil stabbed him to death. The two then dismembered his body, stuffed the remains inside a drum, and sealed it with cement, hoping to dispose of it without raising suspicion. To mislead authorities, Muskan continued to send messages from Rajput’s phone to make it seem like he was still alive, while Sahil left for a hill station on vacation after committing the crime.

The couple had been married since 2016 but had been living separately due to family disapproval. Despite Rajput leaving his job to spend more time with his wife and daughter, tensions arose when he discovered that Muskan was having an affair with Sahil, who was reportedly a close friend of his. Frustrated with their deteriorating relationship, Rajput had decided to rejoin the merchant navy, a decision that ultimately led him back home before his tragic fate.

The plan to dispose of the body failed when police, acting on a complaint from Rajput’s family, reached their residence and uncovered the horrific crime. The accused were arrested, and the victim’s remains were sent for post-mortem examination. Authorities are now preparing charges against the duo, ensuring that justice is served for Rajput.

The brutal nature of the crime has left the community in shock, as what was supposed to be a happy family reunion turned into a cold-blooded murder.
