Security Forces Launch Major Anti-Terror Operations in Poonch and Rajouri Districts

October 17, 2024: In a decisive move to combat terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces have launched extensive operations in the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri. The coordinated efforts, involving both police and army units, commenced late Wednesday night following credible intelligence regarding terrorist activities in the region.

Initial operations focused on the Gursai top area of Poonch, where security personnel engaged a group of militants near Mohri Shahstar. The confrontation resulted in a brief exchange of gunfire as the terrorists attempted to escape into nearby forested areas.

"Reinforcements were quickly deployed, and a large-scale search operation is currently underway," officials stated. To enhance the operation's effectiveness, drones, sniffer dogs, and a helicopter have been deployed to assist ground forces in tracking the militants.

In parallel, a separate cordon-and-search operation was initiated in the Shadra Sharief area of Rajouri early Thursday morning. Authorities received reports of suspicious movements, prompting the search. As of now, no direct contact with the suspected terrorists has been reported, but the operation continues.

Local residents have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as security forces intensify their efforts to ensure the safety and security of the region.
