Guwahati: After the arrest of senior journalist Dilwar Hussain Mazumder by the Assam Police, his advocate said that rule of law was not followed during his arrest.



Speaking to the media, his advocate said that Dilwar was not even allowed to meet his advocate or his family. "There were no notices issued prior to him prior to the arrest as per law. If he had done any crime, then the law will take its course but the accused was deprived of his basic rights as we were not allowed to consult with him", he said.



The advocate added that senior advocate Shantanu Borthakur will take up the case and lead the legal procedures.



He also added that while the police at the Panbazar Police Station at first accommodated the advocate and said that they would be allowed to meet Mazumder. "However, later after some invisible power intervened in the matter, their stance changed and we were denied permission to meet him", he added.
