March 29, 2025: The powerful 7.7 magnitude that struck central Myanmar on Friday, caused widespread destruction and chaos. The quake’s impact was felt strongly in neighbouring Thailand, where a 30-storey skyscraper under construction in Bangkok collapsed, resulting in several fatalities.
In Myanmar, the death toll has surpassed 1000. The earthquake’s devastation was extensive, with buildings collapsing, bridges downed and roads cracked across large parts of the country.
In response to the disaster, India has launched “Operation Brahma” to provide aid to Myanmar. Two Indian Air Force (IAF) aircrafts are being loaded with relief materials, which will soon depart from AFS Hindon.
An aircraft carrying 15 tonnes of relief materials has already reached Yangon on Saturday morning, as informed by Randhir Jaiswal, Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, India.
