March 29, 2025: In a major crackdown on illegal timber trade, the Forest Department conducted a special operation in South Hengera, Golaghat, today. During the raid, officials seized a significant amount of illegally stored timber worth approximately ₹1.5 lakh and apprehended the accused, Babul Ali.



According to sources, Babul Ali had been running an unauthorized timber business for nearly a year without the necessary permits. Acting on a confidential tip-off, a team from the Forest Department launched the operation and confiscated the illegally stored wood from his residence.



Forest officials have confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway to trace the larger network involved in this unlawful trade. They believe that further inquiries may reveal more individuals linked to the illegal timber racket.



Meanwhile, Babul Ali is currently in custody and is being interrogated for more details regarding the source and distribution of the timber. Authorities have assured that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in this illegal operation.
