Guwahati: After the controversy regarding the observation of Bihar Diwas in Tinsukia, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that there was no reason to oppose it.



Speaking to the media, the Assam CM said that other states including Bihar proudly organise and observe Assam Diwas. Sarma pointed out that other states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and even Andhra Pradesh, proudly host Assam Diwas celebrations without any opposition.



Himanta Biswa Sarma said even PM Narendra Modi has been celebrating Assam Diwas with non-resident Assamese.



"It seems to be a political agenda that such a topic is being highlighted as an issue. People who fail to understand that their actions bring a threat to life to the lakhs of youth from Assam living outside the state. Such people need to understand that such communal profiling may lead bring threats to those", he said.



The CM said that hosting such events jointly brings peace and harmony to everyone.



"As long as other states host Assam Diwas and give respect to Assam, I don't see any reason to oppose Bihar Diwas no matter where it is observed", he added.



He added that Assam should respect other states just like they respect Assam.



He added, "Such mentality of such opposition has been the reason behind industries not coming to Assam."
