Air India Flight Security Breach: Ammunition Cartridge Found on Delhi-Bound Flight

November 2, 2024: In a troubling security incident, an ammunition cartridge was discovered in the seat pocket of an Air India flight traveling from Dubai to Delhi on October 27. The alarming find occurred after flight AI916 had safely landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport, allowing all passengers to disembark without incident.

An Air India spokesperson confirmed the discovery, stating, "One ammunition cartridge was found in the pocket of a seat of our flight AI916 after it had landed from Dubai at Delhi on 27 October 2024." Following the discovery, the airline immediately filed a complaint with the Airport Police, adhering to established security protocols.

A cartridge, which includes a bullet, propellant, and primer encased in metal, is prohibited on aircraft due to significant safety and security risks associated with firearms. The presence of such an item raises serious concerns in light of ongoing threats targeting flights, particularly as authorities have reported over 500 recent incidents that, although false alarms, have heightened vigilance within the aviation sector.

These threats, many disseminated through social media, have prompted swift responses from aviation and digital security authorities, emphasizing the importance of maintaining safety standards in air travel.
