March 21, 2024: Indian Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Thursday handed over the Chennai Super Kings captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 which will start on March 22 (Friday).

The first match will be held between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Dhoni, who led CSK to five IPL titles, will continue to be available as a player for the season and barring any last minute injury scares will keep wickets against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Friday.

Ruturaj has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2019 and has played 52 matches in IPL.
