Defence Minister Partners with Godrej for Indigenous Fighter Jet Technology

February 12, 2025: The Ministry of Defence has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Godrej and Boyce Manufacturing Company for the development of critical flight control actuators for India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) prgramme.

The agreement, signed between the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and Godrej on the sidelines of the Aero India show in Bengaluru, marks a major step in India’s efforts to develop a fifth-generation stealth, multirole combat aircraft.

Under the pact, Godrej will be responsible for precision manufacturing, sourcing aerospace-grade raw materials, assembling and testing components, and developing qualification test rigs for the AMCA programme. Flight control actuators play a vital role in an aircraft’s operation, enabling precise movement of control surfaces such as ailerons, elevators, and rudders, which determine the aircraft’s attitude and flight path.

The government aims to strengthen India's self-reliance in defence technology under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative through this collaboration.

Following the success of the LCA Tejas, ADA is now focusing on the development of the LCA AF Mk2, AMCA, and Twin Engine Deck-Based Fighter (TEDBF) programmes, with ambitious timelines to advance India's aerospace capabilities.
