Shillong: The Sohra civil subdivision administration has released new guidelines for organizing events in Meghalaya, including raffles, fetes, carnivals, melas, fairs, festivals, concerts, fishing competitions, sports, and games events.

Organisers will now be required to obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Meghalaya State Lottery if their event includes a raffle. This move aims to regulate raffles, which are commonly held for private and charitable events in the state.

Additionally, the guidelines prohibit animal fights, including bullfights, at events, citing the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960.

To ensure a smooth and lawful experience, organizers must submit certain documents.

Organisers are required to file an application on the organisation's letterhead and obtain NOCs from the venue's custodian and the Commissioner of Taxes.

They will also have to obtain an NOC from the Meghalaya State Lottery if the event includes a raffle.

For events related to pujas, organisers must submit an application and NOC from the venue's custodian.
